Central District
Football Club
The Central District Football Club is one of the League Clubs within the South Australian National Football League (SANFL).
The other nine SANFL clubs are Adelaide, Glenelg, North Adelaide, Norwood, Port Adelaide, South Adelaide, Sturt, West Adelaide and Woodville-West Torrens.
Central District Football Club is proudly called The Bulldogs.
They represent the Northern community of Adelaide, Such as Barossa Valley, Elizabeth/Playford, Gawler and Salisbury.
The Bulldog’s home ground is situated in the town of Elizabeth, currently named X Convenience Oval.
X Convenience Oval has also been formally known by many names: Elizabeth Oval, Hamra Homes, My Money House and nicknamed The Ponderosa.
Centrals was formed in 1959, the club competed for five years in the SANFL Reserves before it was promoted to League competition in 1964.
Central District Football Club did not enjoy the euphoric feeling of a premiership until the year 2000, despite having a very strong supporter base.
The Bulldogs continued playing into the SANFL record books, with 12 consecutive Grand Finals (2000 – 2011) which in itself is a remarkable achievement.
Within the 12 SANFL Grand Finals, Centrals won nine (2000, 2001, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010) in the Men's League.
Also winning their 1st premiership in the Women's competition in the 2023 season.
The Club has grown over many years, and now comprises of Under 14, Under 16, Under 18, Reverses, League, Women’s and Wheelchair teams. As well as Junior football grades and Junior Development.
